Sean did not want to leave the house today. He is usually pretty happy to go anywhere; today I had to convince him with a cookie. For the first time, he did not want to leave me when I dropped him off at his babysitter's house. He is usually happy to go with the sitter and play with the other children. At the least, he has appeared indifferent to the interchange. I was sorry I had to leave him as he reached out his hand to me, the sitter carrying him to the house. I pulled out of the driveway feeling sad.
As I drove to work, I thought about how Sean's behavior had changed from last night to this morning. Last night he barely wanted anything to do with me. Josh is his favorite now; he chooses Josh when he has the choice. That is okay... he is a boy and wants to learn how to grow into a man from his father. They have so much fun playing together.
What a difference -- ignoring me to not wanting to leave me. I'll take it. I'll always take it. He's my little boy and I love him.
As a Mama to four boys, I can totally relate! At dinner Jesse reaches his little hand to mine and wants me to hold it, for just a few seconds, and I don't ever deny him, I'll always take it too!
